Prime Minister Edi Rama has taken to social media, portraying Albania as "The New Princess of the East".
The Prime Minister took to Facebook earlier this week to write about a promotion in a French travel magazine, “Paris vous aime”, rating Berat and the Osumi Canyons as top destinations.
“Or the pleasant surprise at the Paris airport that bears the name of Albania promoting tourist destinations from north to south, from the protected areas of Shkodra to the beaches of Saranda, the Pass of the Market in Gjirokastra, the warm hotels of Korça, the wineries of Berat and other flavors of Touristic Albania”, Rama wrote on Facebook.
He also shared photos of the magazine to his Facebook page, which showed the best of Albania’s cities, blue waters and beautiful beaches.
A few days later, the Prime Minister again posted about the beauty of Albania, with links to Swedish media articles rating Albania as the number one tourist destination.
“Albania tops the list of travel by Swedish media "Livsstil" and "Dagens Nyheter". From north to south, a journey accompanied by ancient ruins, magical mountains, beautiful sandy beaches, rare villages and crystal seas, Albania is described as one of the most picturesque Mediterranean coast të️” the Prime Minister wrote on Facebook.
Around 5000 visitors from Sweden have travelled to Albania in the first three months of 2024, which is a 59% increase compared to the same period of 2023. Edi Rama, along with many other Albanian tourism-punters, believes Swiss travellers are one of the markets with a lot of potential for visiting our country.
